SEIKO Prospex Diver 6R15 Titanium Automatic SBDC007
The Seiko Prospex Diver 6R15 Titanium Automatic SBDC007 is for them who do not give up easily their quest to find the right watch. On the other hand, it is also for them who like a watch to be a watch only – that is tell time, sturdy and reliable. This kind of makes the situation tricky; however, let’s put the Air Diver as something for the guys who got everything but still want something without looking around and wasting time too much. The Shogun – as it’s lovingly called – is not anything gargantuan or especially special as some might want it to be. But to the category of people mentioned before, it just might come as manna from heaven!
The primary reason being nothing but it’s a JDM. To watch lovers, a Japan Domestic Model always holds a special value; why they captivate and initiate a deep, deep love is a different topic altogether and we do not want the space here to fall short. Just this much will do: coming in contact with a JDM allows no other watch to fight successfully for the allotted wrist time. A JDM, in essence, can slash an entire collection of watches off in no time! And a Seiko JDM? As it is Seiko is synonymous to precision craftsmanship; with the JDM-s, an eclectic mix of goodness just comes along as default! With the Seiko Prospex MarineMaster, stare as long as you like towards the seconds-hand; you’ll never detect it skip, jump or bump, even for once. Who says it is mechanical? Just natural!
To understand it bit more precisely, take a look inside the case, at the 6R15 movement. It’s a Jap-made 23 jewel marvel running at a leisurely 21,600 bph. It is wind-able at the first-crown position, quick date-set at the second and time-set hack at the third. It has a 50-hour power reserve and the max it will deviate is around +4 seconds a day, though officially, it is declared +25 sec/day. If you are lucky enough, you’ll end up with +2 seconds and if someone casts upon you a jealous, evil eye, you’ll lag around 7 seconds every day. The power reserve, under observation, so far, never revealed an anomaly. To the real watch enthusiasts, this stands as the strongest selling point among many of the goodness the Seiko Prospex Kinetic brings forth. The accuracy is so much ETA-like without it being an ETA derivative! This is a step ahead of the 2824 as far as ubiquity goes; it’s not so commonplace. You want something different; the Air Diver brings you that! The 6R15 is not as omnipresent and definitely a cut away – if not above – from the rest!
The rest, it’s all about simplicity, from the design to the face; to the appeal to the appearance. No tall tales to be told here – just four words (Seiko Prospex Solar, SCUBA and 200m) say it all! That’s enough for anyone to pick it up if water-related profession or recreation is his cuppa.
